BENEFITS OF ROLFING: HOW CAN ROLFING HELP ME?
While Maggie addresses clients' specific goals throughout the
course of the 10-Series, clients often also notice additional benefits:
They breathe more deeply, stand more evenly, and feel freer from
restrictions cause by injury. As the sessions progress, many people
grow taller, become more flexible, and feel more energetic. By the
end of the series, clients often feel they're in a whole new body,
feeling "more functional," "more alive," and "more present" in their
lives. They find that at the end of a work day, not only are they not
exhausted but they actually feel awake and vital.
ROLFING AND INJURY
All types of athletes seek out Rolfing to fine-tune their daily workouts
and their performances. Injury and overuse at any age can lead to
scar tissue, which causes pain and restriction. Because Rolfing affects
the body's myofascial network, releasing scar tissue is one of Maggie's
main focuses.Athletes who seek Rolfing range from daily runners and
yoga teachers to t'ai chi beginners and weekend warriors.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Maggie consults with clients by phone or in person to discuss their
personal history, including any injuries they might have sustained.
The Rolfing session is conducted with the client in his or her underwear,
or if this in uncomfortable, a bathing suit or tank top and shorts (please
no Lycra biking shorts). This is because Maggie needs to be able to evaluate any structural imbalances and see and easily access rotations in the tissue.
If the client prefers, Maggie can monitor the client's progress by taking
a digital photographs of the client before each session. These photos
are never released or shown to anyone but Maggie and the client! Then,
using hands, knuckles, forearms and elbows, Maggie manipulates and
lengthens the client's myofascia, sculpting and opening the body. In the
span of the 1 1/2- to 2-hour session, clients experience changes in
posture and awareness, or simply feel a sense of balance and freedom. |
